- Drink plenty of water and other fluids
Every day you should try and drink at least six to eight glasses of fluid. Since water is certainly the most effective fluid for the bladder’s health, half of your daily fluid intake must consist of it. However, there are a few people who suffer from certain health conditions and should drink lesser water than others. So, you can consult your doctor about your requisite daily fluid intake.
- Quit smoking
If you are a smoker, you should immediately quit smoking. On the other hand, if you do not smoke, you should stay away from active and passive smoking.
- Limit your caffeine consumption and avoid alcohol
Reduce your daily consumption of caffeinated drinks, like tea, coffee, sodas, and foods, such as chocolate. Moreover, it would help if you stopped consuming alcohol.
- Exercise everyday
Engage in daily exercises, as it can help you overcome constipation and bladder problems. It is also a great tip to maintain optimum body weight.
- Try to avoid constipation
Eat a diet rich in fibers, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. This will help you get rid of constipation and keep you physically active.
- Maintain a healthy body weight

- Make it a point to pee after sex
Men and women should both pee immediately after engaging in sexual intercourse. It will help flush out the bacteria, which might have entered the urethra during intercourse.
- Perform Kegel exercises
Kegel exercises or pelvic exercises are incredibly helpful in strengthening your bladder. It improves your body’s ability to hold back urine. - Try to empty your bladder every time you urinate
When you go to pee, give yourself enough time to empty your bladder. If you hold back the urine for longer than usual, it increases your likelihood of urinary infections. - Go and pee whenever needed
You should pee after every three to four hours. Do not hold back your urine, as it can weaken the muscles of the bladder and make it more prone to infections.
- Wear loose-fitted clothes and cotton underwear
Another useful tip to help manage UTI is to always wear loose cotton clothes, which are breathable and airy. Such clothes always keep your urethra dry.
- Sit in a comfortable position when urinating
When you sit in a relaxed position while peeing, it is easy to empty your bladder.
